5 Tips on How to Reduce Anxiety

“I cannot tell you enough how it’s the little things that you do for yourself consistently, on a daily basis that will change your relationship with anxiety”

  1. A MORNING ROUTINE 🌞

This is my number one anxiety reducer, trust me. My morning routine has single handedly changed my daily life. No matter how early you have to get up, I encourage you to get up even just 10 minutes earlier to do something for you. Meditate, set an intention over a cup of tea, journal, go for a walk. Whatever it is, do it out of love for yourself. By doing something calming and loving for yourself first thing, you’re setting the tone for your day and subconsciously saying, I love you and I’ve got you no matter what comes up today, you can handle it.

  2. GET OUT OF THE HOUSE 🌳

This is more for those of us that work from home but it’s important to get up and out fairly close to the beginning of your day, before starting work. This tells your brain that there’s separation between work and home and can not only create a more productive work environment but allows you to relax in your home when it’s time to end work for the day.

  3. USE YOUR BEST TOOL, YOUR BREATH 😌

This is so often overlooked but we have the best tool to calm our nervous system with us 24/7 and often forget about it. When we manipulate our breathing we can either trigger our parasympatheic nervous system, relaxation, by slowing our breathing down or the sympathetic nervous system, stress response, by increasing our breathing. Doing simple tools like box breathing can immediately send a signal to our brain that we’re safe and calm down our anxiety and stress symptoms.

  4. LIMIT YOUR SCREEN TIME 📱

We all hear that the scroll can contribute to our anxiety and depression symptoms as well. Those of us who work for ourselves usually have to be on social media to promote our businesses. Set that daily time limit on instragram to keep your usage in check and so you're really only using the app for work and business purposes.

  5. MOVE YOUR BODY 🏃‍♀️

We so often think we have to do a tough workout or work out for 45 minutes a day in order to get benefits but this simply isn’t true. Taking 10-15 minute breaks during the day of slower exercises like walking or yoga can make a radical shift in our energy and anxiety levels. Listen to what your body needs and move intuitively and watch your productivity go up and your anxiety go down!
